The Art of Framing
& Conservation
Absolute respect for the artwork and museum-grade protection standards.
"The frame transcends mere physical boundary; it becomes the organic extension of the creative act."
E very artwork possesses an unmistakable aesthetic identity, demanding a perfectly calibrated dialogue with its exhibition space. The conception and manual crafting of the frames represent an essential curatorial endeavor. It is a silent architecture intended to exalt the chromatic substance and impart depth to the canvas, flawlessly integrating the most demanding preventive conservation museum protocols.
Museum Standards
Pictorial Protection (Varnish)
Each painting is sealed with a final layer of high-quality protective varnish, compatible with classical techniques. This shields pigments against oxidation, prevents dust accumulation within the impasto, and unifies light reflection across the entire surface of the canvas.
Controlled Tensioning
We employ professional stretcher bars crafted from kiln-dried wood in a controlled environment, equipped with expansion keys. This system allows millimeter-precise adjustment of the canvas in response to temperature and humidity fluctuations, preventing the formation of cracks in the paint layer.
Solid Wood Frames
The aesthetic integrity of the exhibition rests upon a natural and robust foundation. We utilize solid wood frames, whose profiles are rigorously selected to visually resonate with each individual artwork. Their precise role is to frame and support the artistic presence, chromatics, and noble weight of the paintings.
International
Logistics
Our mission extends far beyond the boundaries of the studio. We facilitate careful handling and deliver art directly to your collection anywhere in the world, with the same reverence it received at its inception.
We guarantee the absolute safety of the artworks during international transport using custom-built wooden crates, thermally secured and protected against mechanical weather elements. Every high-value shipment benefits from diplomatic transit insurance coverage and comprehensive "Wall-to-Wall" policies.
Collector’s Guide:
Artwork Preservation
-
Light
Avoiding Direct Sunlight Exposure
We recommend never exposing the works to direct sunlight or to environments heavily illuminated by ultraviolet spotlights. This precaution prevents the premature drying of oil paint and maintains pristine tonal integrity.
-
Climate
Humidity Control
Maintain a stable ambiance. Optimal conservation conditions include a constant relative humidity between 45% and 55% and a temperature of approximately 18 - 22°C. Major hygro-thermal fluctuations cause uneven expansion and contraction of the canvas.
-
Cleaning
Maintenance and Dusting
To eliminate accumulated dust, use exclusively high-grade feather dusters or a specialized, wide brush with very soft bristles. The application of household chemical products or spraying frames with liquids is strictly prohibited.
-
Support
Delicate Handling
When repositioning, the artwork must be carried and supported by both lateral sides of the solid frame, using thin cotton gloves. Do not apply direct pressure to the back of the canvas or to the hanging wires.
