The Art of Master Mihai Teodor Olteanu Honors the Memory of the Banat Founders of the Romanian Academy at Mocioni Manor
A tribute honoring the Banat founders of the Romanian Academy, marked by the presentation of the monumental work "Timișoara" at Mocioni Manor.
The Romanian Academy – Timișoara Branch, in partnership with the Cupola ProArte Association and the Cupola Gallery, proudly announces an exceptional cultural event on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM, hosted at the “Mocioni de Foeni” National Education House.
Entitled “Illustrious Banat Figures, Founders of the Romanian Academy”, the event marks a dual jubilee: 160 years since the establishment of the Romanian Academy and 75 years since the founding of its Timișoara Branch. Within this solemn setting, master artist Mihai Teodor Olteanu, an emblematic figure of contemporary painting, will present a selection of monumental works engaging in a direct visual dialogue with the history and architecture of the newly restored manor.
The focal point of the exhibition is the artwork “Timișoara”, an impressively scaled canvas (200 x 200 cm) that celebrates the spirit and luminosity of this historic space through its gestural power and chromatic vibration. The master’s presence on the walls of Foeni brings a vibrant contemporary dimension to an event dedicated to the memory of great personalities Andrei Mocioni and Vincențiu Babeș.
“Art is not merely a form of expression, but a portal toward the fusion of two cultural worlds. Exhibiting the work «Timișoara» at the Mocioni Manor represents a triumph of light and spiritual freedom, right in the place where the foundations of our modern culture were laid,” stated Paul Olteanu, President of Cupola ProArte.
The homage symposium will feature addresses delivered by prominent figures of academic and spiritual life, including Academician Mircea Dumitru, Academician Dan Dubină, and His Eminence Ioan Selejan, Archbishop of Timișoara and Metropolitan of Banat, complemented by documentary film screenings and book launches.
„Art is not merely a form of expression, but a gateway to the fusion of two cultural worlds. Displaying «Timișoara» at Mocioni Manor is a victory of light and spiritual freedom, right where the foundations of our modern culture were laid. — Paul Olteanu, President of Cupola ProArte.”
