Mihai Teodor Olteanu and Cupola Gallery at MoBu 2026: A Celebration of Monumental Art

At the onset of summer, Bucharest transforms into the epicenter of contemporary art. Between June 3 and 7, 2026, Cupola Gallery has the distinct honor of inviting you to MoBu – The International Art Fair (Romexpo), where we will bring the turbulence, illumination, and creative force of the Timișoara school of painting before the wider public.

This year, our booth (C19) will serve as a window open to the absolute freedom of the spirit—a sanctuary where art becomes a declaration of independence.

The Destiny of a Creator: “The Painter of the Timișoara Revolution”

Master Mihai Teodor Olteanu’s presence on the exhibition walls at MoBu is far more than a mere art showcase; it stands as a living testament to history and human turmoil. Hallowed and enshrined in the public consciousness as the “Painter of the Timișoara Revolution,” he embodies the profound destiny of an artist wholly devoted to truth and raw emotion.

For the Master, art has remained—since the emancipation of December 1989—a continuous field of liberation and an explosion of vitality. In his vision, art is the soul that refuses to remain silent; a soul that burns, vibrates, and illuminates everything in its orbit. His works are the imprints of an unbridled energy. Through his heavily textured, gesturally applied brushstrokes and colors of overwhelming intensity, he articulates a manifesto of spiritual independence. Mihai Teodor Olteanu translates the pulse of freedom onto canvas, transforming every single work into a triumph of light.

The Masterpiece: “Timișoara”

The focal point of our exhibition this year will be a truly monumental work, a masterpiece that defies the ordinary dimensions of the studio.

Visitors will have the privilege of standing face-to-face with “Timișoara”—an impressive 200 x 200 cm canvas, elegantly framed in wood. This creation is not merely a painting, but a four-square-meter portal to the fusion of two cultural worlds. Through its visual power and architectural scale, the canvas is poised to command the space and become the crown jewel of an invaluable private collection.
